OrthoScan Spine Scan Device
Features of the OrthoScan Spine Scan Device:
• SpineScan is a hand-held, stand-alone device that provides automated means for screening and follow up of spinal deformities postural disorders and range of motion.
• The information obtained by the SpineScan device should be used as guidelines for the decision whether further medical evaluation is needed.
• The examination procedure should be held according to the common procedures applied for assessment of patients.
• SpineScan reliability of angle measurements is proved as being in the same direction and in the range of ±0.5º compared to a known, pre-measured angle.
• SpineScan can be used by school nurses, chiropractors, hysiotherapists and physicians.
• This products is CE cleared, certificated by ISO EN-13485 and FDA approved.
Training:
SpineScan is simple to use. No need for special training. The "Instructions for Use" and presentation clip are good enough to learn to use it.
Additional information about SpineScan:
SpineScan, in addition to offer the function of an automatic Scoliometer has the following additional functions:
-Kyphosis angle: fast assessment of the Sagittal thoracic angle (currently there is no other accurate tool except x-ray).
-Range of motion: both spinal and cervical ranges of motion can be measured in all spatial directions, i.e. flexion/extension, lateral flexion and also rotation. These are very useful in impairment assessment following back pain, accidents etc.
-Posture asymmetries: measurements of head, shoulders and pelvic asymmetries to assess the posture balance.
The SpineScan, the ultimate tool - small and easy to use that enables also to measure ROM, enables a series of useful measurements to a wide range of potential users: physicians (orthopedic doctors, pediatric doctors, GP’s), physiotherapists, chiropractors and school nurses (for screening purposes).
Several measurements incorporated in SpineScan are not available by other devices (automatic ATI scanning, Kyphosis, Rotation range of motion in a standing position). Moreover, SpineScan allows for fast and straightforward measurements, results are immediately presented on the device’s screen.
The measurements can be done even if the patient is dressed. No need to ask the patient to be undressed.
SpineScan does not replace x-ray for follow up on scoliosis. It measures the angle of trunk inclination that can be also measured with a Scoliometer; SpineScan enables more accurate and sensitive measurement for example in school screening for scoliosis.
In addition, SpineScan measures the Kyphosis angle and ranges of motion. Again, these measurements can also be done with x-ray but the device enables simple and fast measurements at the doctor’s office, during treatment (before and after) or follow up without the need to send the patient for x-ray. Usually you do not send the patient to x-ray before/after treatment; with SpineScan you can perform as many measurements as you need.
SpineScan measures angles at three spatial directions and the accuracy of the measurements is very high (less than 0.5 degrees).
Data is saved manually on forms for future comparison. However, we are developing PC software that will work with the SpineScan and will enable data management and reports.
SpineScan is patented based on a unique use of navigation technology for its specific applications.
